Stay safe from violence

Keep yourself out of harm's way by avoiding situations where violence could occur. Try some of the following suggestions and reduce your risk of becoming a victim of violence:

  1. Keep busy: get involved in positive social activities. Try sports or clubs at school.
  2. Don't carry a weapon. Carrying a weapon will not make you safe; it will only put you at a greater risk of being a victim of violence.
  3. Know your friends. Know who you hang around with and make sure that they are people that will help you make good decisions.
  4. Believe in yourself. You are able to break the cycle of violence if you make the right decisions.
Ask for help. If you feel that you are at risk of violence, ask someone for help.
